About the event
A Fragile Geography
Dan Lourenço Dance / Daniel Navarro Lorenzo
I will keep developing my project, A Fragile Geography, researching a new duo piece that will add a different dimension to the overall project. By working with another dancer we will explore what nature means to us? What do we remember of nature in the urban landscapes of streets, museums and parks? What will we remember in the future when all nature is artificial?
Throughout “A Fragile Geography”, I want to tell a fictional story about the future of our planet. A society where people struggle to hide their individualism and the darkness in their lives. In this world, there is little nature left and depleting levels of oxygen. It is a story set in the not-too distant-future, where relations between humans and Mother Earth are strained. In such a dark society, there is hardly any light left but when it appears, it makes the people remember who they really are and reminds them of their humanity. Throughout the piece, dancers will be transformed into sleek, androgynous, nocturnal beings guided through shadows by pools of light in a futuristic world.
Company Class | Tuesday 31 March | 10:00- 11:30
My technical classes are based on the Limon and Release techniques. I like to mix my classes using both techniques – the Release style allows more freedom of movement while Limon brings more discipline around shape and form. In my opinion, Release is more natural and free and helps me to see the potential of dancers in terms of their movement and dance. Limon gives dancers a more powerful body structure. I will finish the class with teaching some phrases of the choreography I am making.
Company Showing | Friday 3 April | 16:00
